    1. The diary must have a date and possibly a time, Querido diario, and a sign-off. Typically, diarios are written at night before someone goes to sleep or when they can't sleep so you may want to start your diary with something like <<no tengo ganas de dormir>> or <<no puedo dormir>> and <<tengo sueño>> or <<ya tengo sueño>> at the end.

    3. it is ok to put smiley faces or small doodles to add authenticity
    4. use slang if possible
    5. Talk TO your diary, as if it is your close friend, someone that really understands you.
    6. you are the writer and reader of a diary, there are things that you need not say about yourself as you would already know this...
    7. Rhetorical questions work well in a diary for showing a reflective or philosophical state of mind.
